3 Easy Ways To Speed Up Your Computer…

May 29th, 2008

If there is one thing that all of us expect out of our computers, its fast speed. Whenever we first brought our computer home from the store, more than likely, we were very happy with how fast it was running. It started up without a hitch or any error windows and any time we opened a program, it opened without hesitation. Slowly, however, over the course of several months, our computer has probably slowed down. Although there could be a number of different reasons why this can happen, there are three easy ways to speed up your computer and to get it back to the speed that it was when you first brought it home.

The first way that you can speed up your computer is by adding additional memory. One of the reasons why computers tend to be cheap whenever you purchase them at the store is because they skimp a little bit on the amount of memory that they install. They may use big numbers in order to try and impress you but the fact is, most computers are deficient in the amount of memory that they really need to run smoothly. Purchase a chip of memory and install it or have someone install it for you and you would be surprised at how much faster your computer becomes.

The second thing that you can do to speed up your computer is to have it cleaned of any spyware or viruses that may exist on it. Although many of these programs show themselves through pop-up windows or browser hijacking, many of them may run silently in the background. Whenever you have many different spyware programs, which often people do, they all run at the same time in it’s tends to grind your system to a halt. The easiest way to redeem this problem is to clean your system by means of an anti-spyware program. Not only will your computer run faster, you will be more secure whenever you are using it.

Finally, we have a very easy way to speed up your computer that is often overlooked by many individuals. This is by cleaning up errors that exists in the Windows registry. Although most people are not comfortable with tampering with this particular part of the computer, errors that compile inside the registry are often guilty of slowing down your system. Fortunately, you do not have to take care of this yourself. There are plenty of programs that can be downloaded and installed in order to scan your registry on a regular basis and keep it clean as a whistle. Not only will this help to speed up your computer, it will also get rid of those annoying pop ups, error messages and system crashes.

Although it may take a little bit of work on your part, these three easy ways to speed up your computer can make it better than new.

How To Pick The Best Registry Cleaner…

May 25th, 2008

Here is an article that I found which talks to you about finding the best registry cleaners online.

Once people know that I review and write about software, they will often ask my opinion on various types of software. Inevitably, someone will ask about the best registry cleaner or cleaners which are on the every popular market at the moment. A quick internet search will reveal that there are literally hundreds of different registry cleaners on the market today and all of them claim to be the best.

So how do you know which register cleaner is the right one for you?

The interesting thing to note is that most registry cleaners are the same product or at least operate on the same software. They have usually been modified to look different and have a different feel and are released as a new and improved “Registry Cleaner”. In reality they are basically the same concept and which registry cleaner is the best really comes down to personal preference.

A few simple tips will help you decide on the best and most compatible registry cleaner for your computer and your operating system.

Most importantly, know which version of windows you are using, as that matters very much to which registry cleaner you would be choosing.

If you select an older version of a registry cleaner, it may not be compatible with the newer versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system and may cause damage to your computer registry creating more problems for you.

If you are running Windows 98/XP/2000 or Microsoft Vista, please do make sure the registry cleaner you chose states specifically that it is suitable for your operating system. As a general rule, if the registry cleaner is compatible with Windows 2000, it will also work with 98 and XP, but not necessarily Vista. Because of the many differences in the Vista platform, you must look for a registry cleaner made specifically for Vista. If you are unsure about the compatibility, most of the major manufacturers of registry cleaner programs have an email link on their website, use it and ask. If they don’t respond, choose another registry cleaner.

Windows Certification is also important to consider. If the registry cleaner you are considering downloading is not Windows certified then do not waste your time and money on it. It may not work or worse could cause permanent damage to your computer registry and result in costly repair bills or replacement.

Also ensure that registry cleaner you are considering offers the ability to back up your data and choose restore points. If you run the registry cleaner and find out later that it has negatively affected one or more of your computer’s functions, you want to make sure that you can restore it to its original settings without too much work. Ideally, the registry cleaner will only identify and delete unnecessary files, but like all technology, registry cleaners aren’t perfect, they can mistake a commonly used file for malicious code and delete it for you. This rare and probably wouldn’t affect the novice computer user, but more experienced users who write their own code may run into problems. In that case, you would want to choose a registry cleaner that allows you to view the files identified for removal and allow you the option of keeping them in the computer registry.

You will also want to identify any type of support offered by the company. If you have difficulty with running the registry cleaner, or even download and installation, online support can be a lifesaver. Email may be adequate, but it’s no good if you have to wait a week for someone to answer your cries for help.
I hope that these simple tips and tricks will help you decide for yourself which registry cleaner is the best for your needs. Follow them and the registry cleaner you choose will have your computer back to its optimum operating efficiency in no time.

What’s The Difference Between Registry Cleaners & Anti-Spyware Products…?

May 22nd, 2008

Many users become confused as to what the difference is between Registry Cleaners and Anti-Spyware Products. Therefore, this post will seek to clear up this issue.

Anti-Spyware Programs:

These programs detect applications that cause the following to occur on your computer:

1. Hackers from gaining control over your PC

These are often disguised as trojans who can access your PC remotely. When this occurs, your sensitive data becomes available for those hackers; data such as credit card numbers, bank account numbers etc.

2. Unwanted popups & advertisements appear whilst surfing the Internet

Those annoying popups and ads that appear during surfing are because of spyware - ads are displayed which are relevant (or sometimes irrelevant) to the site that you are currently on in an attempt to sell to you.

Registry Cleaners:

These programs are used to tune up your registry in order to get rid of unwanted or obselete data.

Registry Cleaners:

1. Increase speed - toolbars, games, startup programs etc are built up over time - unncessary programs simply slow down the computer even if they are not used.

2. Fix a corrupt registry:

You might have deleted a file by accident and an error message popups regsularly when you reboot your pc. Regcleaners solve this problem.

I hope this helps explain the difference between registry cleanres and anti-spyware products.
